Love [Apr. 24th, 2006|07:28 pm]
Expand your mind...

My mom & I had this discussion about love. I asked if she thought you could love more than one person in your life; this type of love being of the romantic sense. She thinks there are different levels of love, so it's possible. My thought is that it wouldn't be the same kind of love, which to me would be the truest, most complete form of it. What do you think?

Why do we need that personal space when it comes to strangers? I wonder if it's an American thing, or just human nature. There are times when I can't stand it if someone stands too close to me.

Black History Month [Feb. 3rd, 2006|11:09 pm]

Why is celebrating influential Blacks only reserved for one month of the year? Is it a coincidence that it's the shortest month?

Do you remember if you learned about historical black figures regularly throughout the year? Or was most/all of that reserved for February?

Of course, things in life aren't always black or white (for lack of better phrase). Perhaps Black History Month was created with good intentions. But if we are to promote equality in our society, then it's a contradiction. We should teach & educate ourselves of all races of people who have shaped history, year-round. It reminds me of the Christian who only goes to church on Christmas or Easter, and that's good enough to get into Heaven or be right with God.

The past [Jan. 26th, 2006|11:25 pm]

Sometimes I will think about what people were doing at the very place I am at, many years ago. This usually happens when I am outside. I will think of how the land may have looked, how people used it, how people got through it, etc. And then I'll ponder about what it may be like in the future, but that kind of saddens me so I go back to the past. I wonder if anyone else does this.

Why do people desire to have children? I wonder what the true answer is in most cases. I doubt a lot of people all share the thought that it's a means of populating the earth, or for any spiritual fulfillment. I know of people that want/have kids because they think it will change things for better/add the love they need in their life. Thoughts?

Ideas for this craptastic time of year! [Dec. 2nd, 2005|12:24 am]

Do you do anything to combat the commercialism of the holidays?

In some ways, I hate this time of year. I loathe the energy, the stress of it all.

I want to focus more on a better way of celebrating these holidays. As for gifts, I like to make something because I don't want people or kids to have the expectation of something expensive, because I need to save money, and also that I think the homemade stuff is more special, genuine, and more thoughtful. Oh yeah, and did I mention I have to be cheap? Sometimes I've noticed that when I don't have money, I feel less stress about those things that require money, that aren't necessities.
